The Smart Doctoral Student Award for Excellence

The purpose of the Smart Excellence Awards is to encourage and recognize distinction and significant promise in scholarly work carried out by the applicant.

The criteria for evaluation are as follows: employment of novel concepts, approaches, or methods; originality and innovation; findings or conclusions that challenge existing paradigms or help develop new methodologies; potential contribution to the field; clarity of presentation.

Every year, 2-3 doctoral students get the award, which stands on about 10,000$.

 

The Smart PhD Endowment Grant

The purpose of the PhD Endowment Grant is to encourage PhD students from the Department of Communications to finish their research and publish excellent work.

The criteria for evaluation are as follows: employment of novel concepts, approaches, or methods; originality and innovation; findings or conclusions that challenge existing paradigms or help develop new methodologies; potential contribution to the field; clarity of presentation.

This grant in brand new, and no one was given the grant, yet. The purpose is to give annual grant ‎of about 4000$, to 1-3 doctoral students.‎

 

Research grants to researchers in the Department of Communication

The purpose of the research grants is to help researchers from the Department of Communications, with their researches and publishments.

The grant is used for any academic use for one year, and controlled by the Smart Institute Coordinator.

The grant, of about 4000$, is given every year, to different 8-12 researchers.

 

Also, researchers allowed to give private scholarships to their master/doctoral students, of their Smart Institute grant.

 

Grant for establishing discussion spaces and discussion groups

The purpose of the research grants is to encourage researchers from the Department of Communications, to develop deeper connections with other researchers – from the department or from other universities, And encourage joint research and publications, from various fields of media research.

Every year, 2-3 discussion groups gets the award, which stands on about 3000NIS.

 

 

In 2018, Brenda Danet's family decided to award a 10,000-15,000$ honors scholarship to one outstanding doctoral student, in Brenda's memory.
